Breathing Some Life Into your Words – Literally!
I was always a show-off. From telling gags to my relations at the age of 7 to amusing my classmates and writing sketches for the school concert. That way, I managed to joke and bluff my way through academia. So, joining the Civil Service was not a good idea!
Realizing that I was a square peg in a round hole, a fellow amateur actor in passing, suggested that I might have the talent to be a professional. And so, armed only with a smile and a song I joined The Guildford School of Acting in the 1980s.
After leaving college I went from job to job all over the UK. I performed and sometimes played the lead in, some great shows, like ‘Joseph’, ‘Godspell,’ ‘Mame’, ‘Mac & Mabel’ and ‘Me and My Girl’ in London’s West End for over a year. I was also a dab hand at Shakespeare in the Regents Park Open Air theatre and once, in between jobs, appeared at the London Coliseum Opera House as a very convincing alligator charmed by the Magic Flute!
During this time, I continued my love of radio by voicing and singing commercials and playing roles for BBC radio drama.
After 15 years on stage, I turned my hand to leading Tours around London, combining my fascination with history and performance. Then the pandemic struck.
Fortunately, I was one of the lucky ones. The enforced time off gave me the chance to reassess my life. Months later, I realized the two things that I missed the most – actors and acting. And so, I returned to performing again, but this time, in front of a mic in my basement!
It was the best decision I’d ever made. Creating scenes, atmospheres, and characters, with one voice and a mic. After almost a year, I have continued to do what I do best – bringing scripts of all types, to life. I have voiced everything from audiobooks, animation, and podcasts to commercials and company tutorials.
I’m always thrilled as a voice actor to breathe life into a script. That’s my job. The voice is a powerful tool and is instantly relatable to its audience – in fact, the voice is the shortest distance between the written word to the ear! It’s hardwired in us all to tune in to voices and the stories they tell.
I bring to my clients over 30 years of professional acting experience ranging from serious drama to whacky comedy and improvisation.
My aim is very simple. Whatever the genre, whatever the script, I want to keep the client coming back for more. So, if the client thinks what I do is great then my priority box has been ticked!
I would really love you to listen to my voice so that you can make up your own mind.
